The rules themselves were altered: tools/chronicle.sh writes the chapters as a grid of cels rather than a column that fits one screen, and docs/chronicle.css is rebuilt from it. The cover is untouched - docs/index.html comes out byte for byte the same. Nothing about what a version is, who counts as its pilot, or what the book has to write down has moved; this is the same account, laid out so it can be read.

The rules themselves were altered: three things, one idea. tools/docs.sh renders every markdown note into docs/ in the book's clothes, taking the set from whatever the README links to so it cannot go stale. The pre-commit hook rebuilds from the index whenever a note's source moves, writes only the pages that came out different, and stages those. And the referee stops reading generated pages for the strings they contain: the rendered golden rules say XMLHttpRequest, sendBeacon and @author precisely because GR2 and GR7 forbid them, and a machine put the words there. Nothing that ships in the cabinet is generated, so everything that ships is still read.

The rules themselves were altered: tools/export.sh renders the whole game into one self-contained page for anywhere that will only take a single file. It is not a build step: index.html is still the thing you open, the export is a copy, and the stylesheets and the module manifest are read off the files that already list them so it cannot drift.

The rules themselves were altered: tools/chronicle.sh dropped the commit subject when writing an interlude to the cover, so entries that shared a deed were indistinguishable there - which is how a book stuck in a loop looked like a book with a rendering bug.

On this day David Friedrich invoked an override: GR5 - the README is commons and this cuts 71 net lines from it. Nothing was removed that is not still said somewhere: the rules in GOLDEN_RULES.md, the architecture in docs/ARCHITECTURE.md, and the rest in the pictures. It reads as an invitation now rather than a rulebook with a game attached.
